Fruit or vegetables in muslin wrap
Suitable from 6 months
A piece of raw fruit or vegetable wrapped and tied in a piece of muslin (or similar fine meshed fabric such as nylon or terylene curtain net) makes good finger food that’s safe for baby to hold, chew or suck on while teething.
Fruit can be chilled briefly in the freezer so it is cold and soothing on sore gums.

Ingredients:
• A wedge of peeled, cored apple, or a chunk of rock melon, frozen banana, firm persimmon, or raw carrot. • A square or circular piece of clean muslin, about 20 cm across • A piece of clean string or strong thread
Method:
Place fruit or vegetable in the centre of the muslin. Gather up the edges to firmly enclose the food in a tight parcel and tie securely (trim off any loose string or threads). Baby will soon learn how to hold and suck or bite on the juicy parcel.
