is my baby teething this early???

Hi im after some advise re my baby daughter that is 11wks old tomor.... She has become more fussy and clingy and are crying more at night and it is not for food yet she screams like she is in pain however she will chew her fingers or other but not the breast?. She is dribbling a hell of a lot. She has suddenly started chewing on her fingers and also on a teething toy when i tried this. Sometimes she is demanding the breast more and other times she rejects the breast. She is not sleeping as well. Im not sure what this is - some people r saying she may be teething?? but i thought she was too young for this??

what is it about the amber beats for teething?

Some babies teethe early with teeth erupting in a baby younger than 5 or 6 months. These babies are considered early teethers, but it is rare to find a baby with a couple of teeth by 3 or 4 months of age. Some babies teethe late. Delayed teething (no teeth having appeared by 13 months) can be hereditary. If you are concerneds , discuss it with your GP or paediatrician.

hi there my 2nd daughter had her first 2 teeth come through at 6 weeks old people couldnt believe it i used the amber beads they were great.

The normal range for teething is anywhere from birth (very small percentage of babies are actually born with a tooth)to over 12 months before getting a first tooth, so it is completely within the realm of possibility (and certainly the signs sound like teething).

lui
my daughter is 7months tomorrow and she's been teething since 5 months. I would massage her gums and she loved it, i also give her pamol to relax and a warm bath. I also have sleepless nights... not much you can do there but i think just lots of cuddles and patience lol

Hi there, my boy's teeth didn't come through till he was 10 and a half months, but they started moving around in there and he got fussy/dribbly/redcheeked from around 3 months, so it might not be teeth coming through but that doesn't mean they don't feel it!! I heard Baltic amber beads are really good? Haven't got around to buying some yet though!!

teeth can come down at different times for different babies, sure 11 weeks is early but it doesnt mean you buba isnt teething, just means your baby started doing what all babies do a bit early . but there is no wrong or right time to teeth, babies each do things in there own time :)

Hi there,
Yes I know how you all feel. My little girl aged 4 months is starting to teethe too, and not much really can help her. I don't find that any of those bonjela or weleda products work, so I just use pamol, give her a nice warm bath with Johnsons Bedtime Bath and then give her a massage with the Johnsons Baby Oil Gel with Lavender in it. Funnily enough I find that the dummy helps her whereas with my two boys they didn't touch it.

I have a recipe for Muesli Teething Biscuits. Makes 24 biscuits.
1 Cup Flour, 1 Cup Farex Ground Muesli, 1 teaspoon Baking Powder, 2 Tablespoons spreadable butter or margarine, _ cup sugar and about _ cup milk.

Mix everything except the milk in a large bowl or food processor bowl. Rub the butter/marg through dry ingredients until completely mixed and consistency is like breadcrumbs. Add milk in a thin stream, mixing it with a fork, or using the pulse button on food processor. Stop adding milk when you can press the dough together to make a ball which is not dry and crumbly. Then roll it into an even shaped cylinder 20cm long

Dip a sharp serrated knife into cold water and cut the cylinder in 24. Pat them so they are a little bigger and more even. Place on a lined tray and cook at 150C for 20-30 minutes or until lightly browned and hard right the way through. But into an airtight jar when cold.

Hope that helps anyone. My middle child loved these.

Does any one of you have a recipe for teething biscuits? I like to bake and it is cheaper than the ones in the store (and possibly healier too!)

My daughter was the same, she got the typical teething rash, dribblin like she was running out of dribble and all the other signs at around 3months But only got her first tooth last week (she's 8mnths nw) Plunket told me that babies teeth start moving as soon as 2wks as they get into place before they break threw. I neva used paracetemol or anything like that, i did use frozen EBM cubes in a muslin cloth for her to suck on and it worked a treat! :)

Hi my baby girl is doing the same thing an she 12 weeks, the best thing to work for me so far is some panadol an a bath with that bedtime bath

Posted on 12/03/2009 12:53:49

some babies do start teething very early and may not even have a tooth come through till a thew months after

Posted on 04/03/2009 08:19:10

give bubz some panadol before bath then she should be a bit more relaxed for sleeping

Posted on 04/03/2009 06:01:04

you should be able to see the white of the tooth. my son had 3 teeth come through between 3 and 4 mths so i'd say your bubs is teething, they can take a while naturally babes like to chomp on things but its good for them! for speech development also to feel different textures in the mouth to make weaning for solids a little easier. just remember everything is new for a baby, its such a big world and theres so many experiences. and every baby is different. good luck.

She definitely could be teething at such a young age. I have heard of quite a few babies who have got their first teeth at around 3 months of age.

Your baby could easily be teething, my daughter got her first tooth at 11 weeks. Feel her gums, they will feel lumpy and swollen, and she'll probably bite down. When my girl was like this it was the same time of the year and really hot, we held watermelon to suck/bite on, and that helped I think, as she got some fluid, it cooled her and it was hard enough to help her teeth and she couldn't break it off.

sounds like she is just hungry
