Baby cries when his daddy picks him up and also other men!!

My partner stayed at home for the first 7 weeks after our son was born and was really close to baby. Baby is now 14 weeks old and 10 days ago started to cry everytime his daddy picks him up and cries when other men pick him up too. It is quite stressful as only I seem to settle him down and it's meaning I can't do much without being close to my baby. I'm worried it will go on and i'm worried about if it continues how it will be when I go back to work in January 09. Please help - I feel really down about it and my partner is heartbroken!!!

Hi, They do say they go through the "SHY" stage. Our wee gracie is 16 weeks and is that way with my father in law. If he is within 1 metre of her the bottom lip drops, starts quivering and then starts [censored] her eyes out. As the previous post suggests it could be the faciaal hair as with some other males she is quite smiley. As the stay at home dad now I am bonding really well with our wee gracie and I did talk to her as well when she was just a "bump"

Hey, well when my daughter was born my partner stayed home as well BUT every time he'd get close to her, she'd scream - but if he was pulling faces at her from a distance she was ok. she is now 8mnths now - AND she is still the same....i put that down to been a girl LOL. anyway, it may be that your partner or friends wear a hat, as it hides their face, or it could be facial hair (i know it sounds funny) or it could be that you partner didnt 'talk' to your tummy when you were pregnant. ") My man talked to my tum with my first child and had no probs bonding, but with my second he ignored my pretty bump! so i put him not bonding with her down to that! LOL :) well i hope some of this may have helped.
K :)
