starting solids??

lue
hi all
i have a 7 month old. i started soilds on him just before he was 6 months. i have a couple of questions if anyone can help...?
what is the best time or when do you start the next stage (eg stage 2 in watties foods)?
i also tried mashed banana with my wee one and he didn't like the texture, hes started gaging on it and dry reaching. how do you stop that or what does it mean?

my son is 4 months and i started him on solids to help with his reflux so we started him on a little bit of banana (1 teaspoon) but the doctor told me to take him off it cause banana makes babes constipated, so i stopped and put him on watties stage 1 and we found that he liked that more then farex and from the organic range he loves the apple custard, all i was wondering was how many times a day do you give solids in 1 day? cause all i am giving him is lunch and at around dinner time he is seaming to want more food but i am just really unsure on weather to give him more or not.

One of the most important things about starting babies on solids is to make sure that they are developmentally ready for it.
Best is to wait until baby is about six months old, but the timing of the developmental stages and skills that indicate readiness vary from one baby to the next. Many infants exhibit fussing and crying in the first 3 - 4 months. This behaviour may be misinterpreted as hunger. Look for signs of readiness such as: Shows chewing movements, opens mouth easily when spoon touches lip, no tongue extrusion reflex (tongue doesn_t protrude), tongue moves gently back and forth as food enters mouth, keeps food in mouth, moves food to back of mouth, and swallows.

Hi Ladies ... our wee girlis just over months and we have started tastes -farex with little puree pear added, but her fav by far is a little pumpkin she only has a tiny amount as Im not wanting to upset her tummy, a portion for her is a bout a teaspoon after her breastfeed at night time ... helps with her sleep too .... with regards babies re-fusing solids - maybe try adding a little banana into rice or farex to dilute the flavour - babies are not always keen on new tastes - also - sometimes you need to re-introduce up to 10 times before they will eat it, its the whole something new thing .... good luck :-)

It will be great to hear some suggestion from mums concerning babies refusing solids.

We are just Starting our wee gracie on some solids and found that she did not want the Baby rice anywhere near her mouth. But Give her veges and her mouth is wide open waiting for them. She is only just coming up 4 months old in a couple of days and started trying solids a week ago as she has developed reflux so helps with medicating while putting something else into her belly when she is spilling so much out at times.

he might not be ready for that yet i pretty sure until there 8 months there meant to have puree food, as for the stages on watties it will say on the little circle on the tin but i think the next stage is something like 8 on and i think stage 3 is 12 months plus

My girl was exactly the same, i left it 2 weeks and just tried again, and shes dealing with the lumps better, still "gagging" a little but doesnt look like shes choking and spitting it out now
