Hi. We struggled through my first pregnancy to think of a name but right before my son was born a nurse asked what his name was and I just knew that the name we most like was right for him. His name is Jesse Michael. Something unusual but still with a long heritage, and the second name is in honour of my father. But now, surprise surprise, we're expecting another boy! So its back to the drawing board for us too!

I just recently had a wee boy and it was soo hard choosing a name, i ended up with a list on the fridge so i could look at it every morning and see which one stood out. I had Kobie, Flynn, Kade, Kayden, Rylan, Harley, Harlem and Cooper BUT! when he was born none of the names seemed to fit. So i was flicking thru a girly mag after my c section and saw the name Jaxon, and that was it! Jaxon Kade Lee =)

When my husband and I got married we decided that when we have children they will all have family names. It's quite choice cos you can go searching and asking all about great aunts and uncles and great grandparents too. Our little girl was born on January 12th this year and we named her Norah Maselina Malia, she has ALL her great grandmothers names (since two of her grnadparents had the name Malia or Mary), Norah was my nana, so we modernised and made it our little girls name by adding an 'h' on the end. I strongly suggest looking at all the family names on both sides :-)

Only boy name I had liked before our wee man was born is the name XAVIER. Before he was born we could not come up with any other boy name we both like so that we could have some options...so it was a no brainer for us. Xavier is a very cool name (well I think anyway) and there are not too many Xaviers around. Everyone who asks what his name is loves the name and we get so many comments.

Also I have heard that in some places in the British Isles it is a tradition for the 1st born son to be given a 'surname' as a christian name, Like McGregor or Kennedy or McKenzie. Are there any surnames you both like that you could use this way?

Why don't you make a list of Boys names that you both kinda like and then go about spelling them differently than what they would usually be spelt.

Hi,I also found it hard to name my boys. I found once they were born a name seems to suit them. For the first one a defferent name suited- Dominic which means " of the Lord" had not been in my family before. And the second boy we called Shane because it was my husband's second name, and it suits him. Hope that helps. I find the meaning behind the name helps, you could look in baby name books which always gives the meaning and origin of the name.

we had SUCH a struggle with boys names- and when my son was born, he was nameless for a week! Some names on our list for boys ended up being Oran, Peter, Nicholas, Malcolm, George, hm..... sometimes thinking of a meaning and punching that into the babyname sights can bring up some interesting things... in the end, we named him Gaelen- which means tranquil healer.

HI THERE ID THORT ID LET YA KNOW THAT IF ITS DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO NAME A BABY BOY I'D THORT U SHOULD GO WITH A NAME THAT HAS NEVER BEEN USED IN THE WORLD!! HAVING THE ORIGINAL NAME SEEM TOO MUCH AROUND THE WORLD!!! SOMETHING THAT ARE LIKE POPULAR AND FAMOUS AND ALL THAT!!! BUT HERE'S MY ADVISED THAT YOU SHOLD GO WITH A NAME THATS NEVER BEEN USED!!! EXAMPLE BABY NAME : LEGEND,KANYE,DALLION,STORM,LUICUIS, NAZAREITH,,, AND YEAH I NAMED 1 OF MY DORTA AND WANTED A NAME THAT HASN'T BEEN USED OR NEVER HEARD B4. SO HAVE A DORTA AGE 1YEARS OLD AND NAMED HER NAZARENE.; SO GUD LUCK MY FRIEND!!! CHEERS.

:) Mummy2be13, i like Jarreth :) i dont wanna make this sound weird but our dog is called Riddick (based on pitch black, mmmmmmm Vin desiel) i liked it as a boy name too, but when we got the dog we are now pleased as we didnt call him that!! (cos the dog is a struggle) To smojo, have a look at some movies, books, or even re-arrange some close family's names to come up with a Original name...... or you can find somethin that has meaning for you and find the latin, hawaiin, maori, or other language translation and use that, (this is what we ended up doing, along with the mixing of family names) there are also really good websites out there 2!! Hope this helps somewhat. Keep us informed on what you call your lil bundel!! Good luck!!

What about names such as jarreth vincent riddick mathiyus

Posted on 20/04/2009 06:19:35

I know what you mean Smojo... I like to keep in mind that boys eventually become men, and want them to have a 'manly' or 'adult' name that will suit them when they're mature. Some of the old fashioned names are making a come back... Some names like 'Luca' and such sound a bit 'young boyish' if you know what I mean... I like some of those names you listed... Jack is a bit overused and is quite a popular dog name too! It's hard isn't it!!!!
