I'm from South Africa. We moved over when my son was 7 months old. I've also found it hard to make friends and we've moved a lot since being here as well. Just moved to Auckland. The friends I've made so far have been at a coffee group through the church, and also a Zimbabwean neighbour who heard that we were from SA, and a few people I met on Facebook. I basically have to start again now with the new move. I'm going to try playcentre and a few other groups.
How long have you been here?

Hiya, I'm from the UK and had my first baby there, he was three months old when we came over here not knowing anyone. We joined a Plunket group that met every week or two and four years later we still meet every other week, one of the mums is my best friend and our sons are best mates. The Plunket nurse will give you details once the baby is born. Another way I met people was through the drop in playgroups, usually held in a church hall once a week, there's bound to one somewhere near you(nothing religious about them)They are very welcoming, we have family days and girlie nights and a babysitting circle and just meeting weekly for kids to play and for us to have a coffee, a chat and some support is fantastic. Also Mainly Music, again done through the church, but the kids really enjoy the singing, dancing and instruments and the morning teas are very good! You can find their info if you google it.
Now my kids have a busier social life than I ever did!

hi there, I have been told Antenatal classes are great for meeting other Mum's. I dont start mine for a while yet but am looking forward to meeting other Mums in my area.
