One of my favourite moments as a Mum is the first moment you actually become one.

Like many first-time pregnant women, I spent many months of pregnancy stressing that I wasn't going to be maternal enough-That I wouldn't like being a Mum. When colleagues proudly brought their babies into work, I had to drag myself over to politely congratulate them. To me, all newborns looked the same and none were ever cute. In fact, I'd never even held (or remotely felt like holding) a newborn baby before. Colleagues took bets that I'd be back into work within months of giving birth.
Oh how that changes the second you are handed your incredibly beautiful and amazing little newborn. It is like a switch turns on... suddenly you could spend hours staring at, playing with, gooing over and cuddling your gorgeous wee bundle of joy. They are in some way involved in every minute, hour and day of your life until you wonder how you ever lived without them. It has now been 5 years since I had my first daughter and left work. I have loved every day of my time at home with my girls and regret that at some point in the next year or so, I will have to return to work. Yes - being a Mum changes your lifestyle... you're never as rich again. Travelling is never as easy and forget about quality sleep! But who would ever change a day of it! Becoming a Mum is the most amazing experience and I've been lucky enough to become one, three times over!
